Principal Planning Officer – Major Applications
Hertfordshire | Hybrid (1 day/week in office)
Start: September 2025
Contract: 3–6 months+
Rate: £50–£55/hour (Inside IR35)

My client, a prosperous local authority in Hertfordshire, is looking for an experienced Principal Planning Officer to lead on a range of major planning applications. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to high-profile developments while enjoying a flexible hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on major planning applications, including solar farm proposals, residential schemes and reserved matters applications
• Provide expert advice and guidance to stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with planning policy and legislation
• Prepare and present reports to planning committees

Requirements:

• Proven experience handling complex planning applications with an LPA setting
• Strong knowledge of planning legislation and policy
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills
• MRTPI preferred, but not essential
