Role Purpose
The Plant Area Manager will support the leadership of daily operations, drive sales, manage inventory, and ensure outstanding customer service. This role involves developing a knowledgeable, motivated team and maintaining high standards across the nursery.
Key Responsibilities
· Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and support a small retail team to deliver excellent service.
· Customer Service: Provide expert advice, handle queries professionally, and ensure a positive shopping experience.
· Sales & Stock: Maximize sales through effective stock control, merchandising, and plant knowledge.
· Plant Care: Oversee plant health, watering, pruning, and general maintenance.
· Operations: Maintain tidy plant and warehouse areas, process goods in/out, and manage pricing and labeling.
· Health & Safety: Ensure safe working practices and report any concerns.
· Administration: Handle invoices, delivery notes, and customer records accurately.
Person Specification
· Knowledge: Strong horticultural knowledge (theoretical and practical), MS Office proficiency.
· Skills: Customer-focused, detail-oriented, self-motivated, excellent time management and communication.
· Experience: Retail or horticultural experience preferred; EPOS system use desirable.
· Qualifications: RHS level 3 or equivalent essential and GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
· Availability: Full-time, 5 days/week including 1 weekend day; overtime during peak periods.
