About Life in Alberta, Canada:  Breath-taking natural wonders and landscapes!  Welcoming communities with diverse cultures!  High standard of living and home to many world-class services!  Exciting experiences, new career opportunities with a focus on economic growth, job creation and abundant opportunities for entrepreneurs.  Our communities are part of what makes Alberta such a great place to live, with small, rural towns home of only a few hundred people, to our 2 major cities, Calgary and Edmonton, with populations of over 1 million each.  Each has their own unique character with many opportunities for work.

About the city of Edmonton:

  • Shopping:  Do you like shopping?  Imagine a 490,000 square metre mall that boasts over 800 stores and services.  West Edmonton Mall is the LARGEST SHOPPING MALL in North America.  In addition to amazing shopping, it has theme parks, a water park with a wave pool and zip lining, miniature golf course, four movie theatre complexes, entertainment centre, and indoor skating rink.

  • The Edmonton River Valley Park:  20 different parks including golf courses and lakes, that combined are 22 times larger than Central Park in New York City.

  • The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village: A historical site featuring 30 historic buildings, gardens and monuments that depict the life of Ukrainian settlers between 1899 and 1930 with workers dressed in traditional clothing.

  • Arts: Edmonton’s Arts District is downtown and hosts festivals, landmarks and shopping, all within walking distance of the Central Business District and Warehouse District.

  • Museums: The Royal Alberta Museum, The Alberta Aviation Museum, the Telus World of Science and IMAX theatre, are here to experience and enjoy.

  • Sports:  Edmonton Oilers (hockey), the Edmonton Elks (football) and FC Edmonton (soccer).

  • Winter skiing and snowboarding: Nearby is Edmonton Ski, Snow Valley and Sunridge Ski.  Or, take a winter ski trip to beautiful Jasper (UNESCO World Heritage site) which is approximately a four-hour drive.

  • Spring and Summer and Fall:  Take a road trip to the Rocky Mountains!  It's always beautiful in any season! Here you can experience open space, blue lakes, summer hiking and year-round natural beauty in the cities of Jasper and Banff.

This university is known for its strong research output, particularly in areas like engineering and health sciences.  It comprises 4 campuses spread out between Edmonton, Camrose and Calgary. It includes the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry with 192 positions available per year. This faculty is one of Canada’s premier health science institutes, recognized for innovative education, world-class research and outstanding clinical care. It has an international reputation for training health professionals and researchers and its teaching hospital is the largest in Western Canada. It also has faculties in engineering, law, business, nursing, agriculture and more.

  • Public transportation:  Edmonton offers train transit systems to make it easy to get around.

Edmonton is a family friendly city with lots of activities/sports/dining/history for you and your family to enjoy.

Affordable housing prices means you will be buying your own home much quicker than if you were practicing in Toronto or Vancouver, where prices can be double or more.  An average price for a beautiful home in Edmonton is $650,000 (Toronto $1.2 million and Vancouver $1.4 million).

Start packing and come to Edmonton where you can create a new lifestyle for you and your family!  The greatest benefit of practicing in Canada is that patients will appreciate and respect you, leaving you with a feeling that what you do really matters.
